People in Brno enjoy an interesting place to take walks: the banks of the Svratka River and the shores of the Brno Dam. Normally the water level reaches all the way under the trees. Every summer millions and millions of cyanobacteria develop in the waters of the dam, turning the water green and making it impossible for sane people to swim in. As it is a popular destination for water and sun lovers, the authorities have long wanted to do something about it.
So there is almost no “dam” now, just a huge river and the shores were treated with the use of appropriate chemicals. One more batch should be applied in March or August and then the water level should go back to normal.
I took a walk there as well and I got to see places I can’t normally see due to steep hills and bushes. And I found a tiny private spot that I will definitely try in summer. Big enough for one blanket for two people and good enough for jumping into the water…
