The Simpsons: Czech Reviews Sometimes Babble

In Culture on July 23, 2007 by Petr Bokuvka

As the grand premiere of Simpsons: The Movie is approaching, Czech media are preparing the Czech viewers for it. Most of them try to bring as much information as possible. Some of them just babble. For example this review says that Springfield is portrayed as the biggest “hole” in America. Oh, really? I always thought it is portrayed [in the series, so far] so that it can be just anywhere. Springfield has an international airport, a power plant, baseball team, national park… in other words, attributes of a big city. Furthermore, the review says how unique the Czech dubbing is because the voice of Marge was provided by a man. How unique is that when the English voice of Bart was provided by a woman? Obviously, the Czech premiere is going to be dubbed…if this is true, it is gonna be the biggest mistake in the “Czech” movie industry. The Simpsons are NOT a kids’ program.

  2. Why should be czech premiere of The Simpsons mistake? Our dubbing is much better than English or German (Especially Bart and Marge are fantastic). We are used on this dubbing and nobody would go to the cinema at this movie vitw English dubbing.
