IMDb Lies About The Simpsons Movie

In Culture on July 26, 2007 by Petr Bokuvka

Just came home from the Czech premiere of The Simpsons Movie. And I found out something very interesting. In the plot outline for the movie The Internet Movie Database says: When Homer mistakenly pollutes the river with toxic waste from the power plant, he loses his job and forces evacuation from Springfield, possibly forever.

In attempt NOT to publish spoilers the IMDb writes something that is not true. Of course. This is the movie industry event of the decade so why spoil it by spoilers. The truth is that Homer purposefully pollutes Lake Springfield by pig manure that he has been collecting in his back yard.

The movie is brilliant. There are quite a few jokes that have never appeared in the series. On the other hand there are four dream scenes, kind of like the one in the episode in which Homer eats a chilli pepper. I complained about the dubbing but I found out that Czech movie theaters will offer both language versions so who wants to see the original will have to search for it.

UPDATE: It has been explained why the synopsis is not correct. It wasn’ a lie, then. However, in fairness of blogging I decided not to alter what I have already written. One of the newer posts explains. //PB July 30//
