Leave Your Car At Home Day

In Economy on September 16, 2007 by Petr Bokuvka

Next Saturday is the Leave Your Car At Home Day again. Several NGO’s that organize and support it encourage people to take the public transportation instead.

In some cities it didn’t work in the past. So the municipalities decided not to charge passengers on that day. This is the case of Brno this year, so you don’t have to buy your ticket on Saturday, and if you own the pre-paid card you can leave it at home and ticket inspectors won’t hunt you.

However the city is way too big for any really visible change. People who have to use their cars on a daily basis to get to downtown Brno will use them on Saturday as well…at least most of them, who will think Even if I leave the car home, other people will not, so why should I observe it on this very day when others will not.
