CNN Comes To The Czech Republic

In Media on October 9, 2007 by Petr Bokuvka

TimeWarner Inc. wants to make money in the Czech Republic. For this purpose CNN news television opened its branch here. It’s not the news team [yet], only the office that will offer and sell commercial slots/ads.

I must say this is a good idea. Sometimes when CNN news reporters travel to countries in which this news station is not established, you can see it on the reports and in the reporters’ voices how infatuated and amazed they are, as if they were saying “Wow, they do have running water and toilets here“. I give the future Prague correspondent three months and he will be just as adapted as most expats in Prague.

Related story: CNN’s senior correspondent Christiane Amanpour is in Prague now, too. There is a great interview with her on Aktualne.cz news server [sorry, Czech only]. She attends the Forum2000 conference, coorganized by fmr. Czech president Vaclav Havel
