Running The Country? Nah! Football

In Politics on October 17, 2007 by Petr Bokuvka

Next year’s state budget was on the agenda of the Czech Parliament today.

If you think Czech legislators are disciplined and reliable and hard-working, think again.

The MP’s suggested and voted that the session be interrupted. And so it was. According to iDNES.cz  news server and some TV news broadcasts the MP’s wanted to get home in time for tonight’s [Wednesday evening] football [soccer] match between the Czech Republic and Germany. It is the EURO 2008 qualification match.

And the Prime Minister went to Munich, Germany, personally. To be fair, I should say that he is meeting the new leader of Bavaria [one of Germany’s lands].
