Bomb Threat: Shopping Arcade Evacuated

An anonymous caller left a message on the answering machine of the director of the most popular shopping arcade in Brno: “You got a bomb there. If will go off at 5:40 p.m.”

I arrived at the Vankovka Shopping Center at around 5:30 by which time the arcade had been evacuated and I could see K-9 units walking back and forth and searching for explosives.

As usual nothing was found.

Sometimes I think that police should ignore these callers. Sure, they might do it in case of a court building when it is almost for sure that nobody would be able to bring explosives and/or detonators into the building. However, a shopping mall is altogether different.  Given that almost 4,000 people were evacuated, it is obvious that bringing a shopping back in and “forgetting it” just about anywhere is not a problem…
