It Is Snowing And Czechs Are Surprised

In Winter on November 6, 2007 by Petr Bokuvka Tagged: ,

A few inches of snow caused huge traffic problems in the western parts of the country last night. Several trucks ended up jack-knifed and many cars in ditches. Almost all of them decided to try their luck and get on the road with summer tires.

As usual in the Czech Republic, somebody will have to die before people start behaving responsibly. Having summer tires on snow-covered roads in mid-November and killing somebody in a car accident should be considered a vehicular homicide.

But it is not.

Instead, TV stations like to open their evening news programs with a story that says something like “it is December and it is snowing”.
