Czech Police Now Confiscate Cars

In Law on January 11, 2008 by Petr Bokuvka

It is about time…

Drivers in the Czech town of Melnik who drive while intoxicated or who drive without even having a license might lose their cars, the news server writes. Last year the police in Melnik caught 2,000 drives without a license, or whose license had been suspended by court, or who were intoxicated.

The stricter tool in fighting with these irresponsible drivers has been valid for some time already and the police in this small town near Prague are reportedly the first district to apply it. Driving without a license is a felony for which one can spend even one year in prison…

So far the Melnik police have confiscated nine cars…

Not bad…

According to the news server the court decides whether the car gets confiscated altogether or whether it is returned to its owner who then gets other form of sentence
