Cops On Segway Must Maintain Walking Speed

In Technology on April 3, 2008 by Petr Bokuvka

Cops in the Czech town of Znojmo got three Segways. Patrols that walk through the city on foot inspecting parked cars and other things have easier job now…

But not for long…

Some wiseass lawyers now claim that according to Czech Road Traffic Law Segways are to be used only on sidewalks because they do not have “vehicle certification” (like bikes) that would allow riding them on streets and roads…

While on a sidewalk the cops would have to refrain from potentially dangerous activity which means they would have to maintain the speed of a pedestrian…

Why do I have the feeling that this can only happen in the Czech Republic…
