June Gay Parade In Brno: Politicians Disagree

In Life, Politics on April 14, 2008 by Petr Bokuvka Tagged: , ,

Probably the very first gay parade should take place in Brno in June, the Brnensky denik (Brno Daily) writes. Some politicians (especially Christian Democrats) and church officials express their concerns and some even said they don’t want this event to take place at all.

Their main argument is that the main reason why the “parade” is taking place is to raise the public awareness about unequal conditions for gay and lesbian couples when it comes to adoptions. If this event was to be more of a “show” some politicians would not object.

More to come later today…

::UPDATE:: Some Christian movements that promote the so-called healthy families (by which they probably mean mommy and daddy) say it is not fair from the same-sex couples to march for adoptions. Prior to the adoption [sic!] of the law on registered relationship it wasn’t anything they would demand. They just wanted to legalize their relationships, says a statement of one of them.
