Several eastern regions/counties of the Czech Republic were affected by three-day floods recently.
A village named Troubky that was destroyed during 1997 floods was flooded again… No loss of life reported this time. However, the loss of home was, as citizens of the village complained that almost no measures have been adopted to prevent the floods from reoccurring…
Czech President Vaclav Klaus was recently quoted as saying that the state should not “invest” in houses (i.e. help people) that are built in areas were floods are almost a sure thing everytime it rains for a few days…
